This workshop is part of the Bernoulli Center programme at EPFL, to be held from 08 to 12 June 2026.
The objective of this workshop is to bring together scientists from around the world to explore how behavior, especially in small animals, can be used to infer underlying brain functionality. Designed for theorists and experimentalists, the workshop will focus on developing new experimental approaches, quantitative models, computational frameworks, and advanced algorithms to decode neural activity from behavioral data. We would like to ignite discussions on experimental paradigms, machine learning, dynamical systems theory, and statistical modeling, with the goal of advancing our understanding of the brain-behavior relationship through next-generation experimental and theoretical tools. In addition, the workshop will serve as a PhD course for EPFL students.
