Homology and homotopy in the world of graphs

This workshop is part of the Bernoulli programme at EPFL, to be held from 14 to 18 September 2026.

The workshop topic is algebraic topology of (di)graphs, and, more specifically, the actively developing field of homology and homotopy theories of (di)graphs; spanning from discrete homotopy theory and cubical homotopy theory, to magnitude homology and path homology of metric spaces. These themes inherently relate to the development of topological data analysis methods for real world networks, which will also be an integral part of the workshop.

The programme will center around talks by selected leading experts in the aforementioned fields. The workshop week will be designed with ample time for discussion and collaboration. The aim is to create an open atmosphere to facilitate the interactions, to identify important open questions and emerging trends within the topic, strengthening and fostering (new and grounded) collaborations.
