This workshop is part of the Bernoulli Center programme at EPFL, to be held from 15 to 17 April 2026.
Hyperbolic surfaces and manifolds have played an important role in geometry and topology over the past half century. Their ubiquitous place in mathematics is due to their many and rich interactions with a diversity mathematics including mathematical physics, number theory and, more recently, combinatorics and probability theory. The workshop aims to bring together experts on hyperbolic manifolds and their spectra.
The pioneering work of Peter Buser has played an important role in the understanding of hyperbolic surfaces, their spectra and their moduli spaces. The workshop will also be an occasion to celebrate his considerable contributions.
